Think Vitamin has just posted a great video intro to NodeJS and I have to say that it’s really well done. I haven’t had a whole lot of time to watch alot of videos over at Think Vitamin but I’m glad I did. They are really well done and the membership is pretty cheap. Thoughts about the video:

So while the video is only 6 minutes, it’s a very brief overview of all the stuff that you can do with Node.js (official Node.js site) but it’s really well done for what it does describe. I like the thought of Node.js and what it’s capable of doing, I don’t really see it being suitable for building a blog lets say, but I see it being really handy if you need to build a javascript based web application (think Gmail, Google Reader, etc…)

Node.js does add in some functions and libraries for working with the file system directly with Javascript which could be quite handy for a more advanced web based application. With these libraries, the presenter goes into a good job of displaying the difference between the async and sync versions of Node.js’s operation

All in all it’s worth checking out and I would highly recommend a membership at Think Vitamin
